Headshot of Dr Windsor

Welcome

I am Dr. Noelle “Ellie” Windsor, Osteopathic Family Physician. I believe that the healthiest people have the strongest relationships and connections to those around them. Healing starts with connection.

As your doctor, I will get to know your mind, body, and spirit. You are more than just your symptoms, and the best health outcomes are rooted in enduring relationships. I want to empower you, your family, and our community to improve health in many interwoven ways. From the moment you walk into our door, you’ll become a part of our family.  That is whole person care.

My Story

You can call me Dr. Ellie, and I am so happy to have you here.  I am an osteopathic physician with a private practice in Ventura, CA.  My earliest education came from working in a small town medical practice in East Texas, where I learned firsthand that the humanity of the patient is as important as the treatment.  I graduated in 1995 from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Journalism and Animal Science.  Following my dream of being a doctor, I  started med school at the age of 41, pregnant with our third son.  I graduated from Rocky Vista University School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2018, in Denver, CO.   I moved with my family to Ventura to complete my residency in the Community Memorial Healthcare System for family medicine training.  It was a busy few years!  I finished my residency in June of 2021, and I opened Windsor Family Practice soon after.  I have been a yoga teacher, and I have worked in recruiting technology, hospitality, and sales and marketing for various industries.  But first and foremost, I am a mom and a wife.  I believe in living fully and authentically, with balance between my career and my personal life.  I am lucky to have such an incredibly supportive husband, and we have been married for a little over 20 years.  We spend a lot of time being our kids’ chauffeurs and their biggest cheerleaders, and it is our privilege to be their parents.

It feels like the universe brought us to the perfect place, and we fell in love with Ventura immediately.  We are surrounded by so much natural beauty in all seasons, and we appreciate the slower pace and kindness of this community.  I am excited and grateful to continue putting down roots in this wonderful town.  I know my medical practice will be a constant source of fulfillment, and I hope to be a physician you can rely on in both the joyful and the challenging times of your life.  Osteopathic care can give you profound improvement in your quality of life, and I can’t wait to be an advocate for your growth.  My hope is that we can all live gently on this planet, supporting each other and seeking true health and wellness.

Our Mission

When I began my family medicine training in Ventura, I quickly saw how a standard fee-for-service, insurance-driven model of care caused my patients stress. More than that, it contributed to continued illness for them and a distressing burn-out for me. How could I connect with my patients in an 8-minute visit? How was it possible that I could be so passionate about helping people, and yet, not only was I experiencing fatigue and disillusionment as a doctor, but my patients were still sick?! I was driven to seek out an alternative way of relating to my patients, one that didn’t prioritize insurance companies over true health and wellness. I knew there had to be a better way.

Heal the Patient, Heal the System, Heal the Planet

Let’s face it, our healthcare system is broken. It is not an exaggeration to say we are in a state of crisis. People are living with chronic pain and dying unnecessarily often because our system values intervention over prevention, and we are trapped in an insurance-driven structure that is not working. Half a million people die every year in part because we’ve forgotten that relationships take time. Health means putting patients first and going beyond the bare minimum. Patients deserve a broad range of options and a deep, respectful relationship with their physician. Doctors deserve to have a chance to make those connections.

Listen Carefully

My training and the DPC model give me the time to listen. What I hear is that my patients want to be seen, be well, and have options in their medical treatment. I listen with empathy, which builds trust between us. Empathy has been shown to reduce stress in both doctor and patient! The doctor-patient relationship is and should be the backbone of the medical system. It is a huge part of my life’s work to create a nurturing medical practice where you can get well and stay that way. I hope you’ll join me.

What is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine?

Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine, also known as DOs or osteopathic physicians, are fully licensed physicians who practice in all areas of medicine. Medical doctors (MDs) and DOs receive the same basic education.

Both MDs and DOs:

  • Provide all the benefits of modern medicine, including the use of technology to diagnose and treat injury and illness
  • Attend four years of medical school followed by a residency program
  • Licensed by state licensing boards, with the same requirements to practice medicine
  • Practice in all 50 states
  • Provide diagnoses and treatments based on scientifically-proven results
  • Order medical tests and procedures
  • Prescribe medication

However, instead of just treating specific symptoms, osteopathic physicians focus on treating the whole patient; mind, body, and spirit. I see each person as more than just a collection of body parts and internal organs, and I believe every part of the body works together in an interconnected system. This holistic, patient-centered approach to healthcare means you and I are partners in your health, and we incorporate your goals into your treatment and healing. DOs also receive more training in the study of hands-on manual medicine and the body’s musculoskeletal system. That means that one of the most important tools I use as a DO are my hands. Your bones and muscles make up about two-thirds of your body! These structures play a critical role in your health.  By using a hands-on, whole person approach to diagnosis and treatment, we can focus on healing as well as disease prevention. Osteopathic medicine is not physical therapy, massage, chiropractic care, or craniosacral therapy. In fact, DOs provide the most expansive, inclusive healthcare available today. We explore the risks and benefits of all treatment options so you feel informed and comfortable with your decisions. Choosing a Doctor of Osteopathic medicine means choosing the path to the healthiest version of you.
